Headed by the highlight three-weekend support slot alongside the British Touring Car Championship, which was announced at the beginning of November, the Legends Cars will also be racing as part of a separate five event championship which itself features some outstanding race meetings.
The six round series which will appear alongside the BTCC will begin at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent on 6th/7th May, and will then appear at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire on 29th/30th July before the decider at Knockhill in Scotland a fortnight later, on 12th/13th August.
Bringing Legends Cars action to tens of thousands of BTCC spectators trackside, the biggest car racing crowds in the UK outside the FIA Formula One World Championship’s British Grand Prix, millions more will be able to watch the action as part of the superb live television coverage on ITV4.
The opening Legends race meeting of 2023 will be the season starter for the sister championship, taking place at Cadwell Park on 15th/16th April – a welcome return for the category to the picturesque Lincolnshire track, with the British Automobile Racing Club, after a year away.
American Speedfest at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit will host the second event over the weekend 17th/18th June, one of the biggest race meetings in the country, ahead of a yet-to-be confirmed date in September which may yet be a single round or twin-round event.
The championship will then conclude with a visit to Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk on 7th/8th October, with MotorSport Vision Racing, before the hugely popular annual ‘Fireworks Finale’ alongside the British Truck Racing Championship, on 4th/5th November.
Marking a very exciting evolution for Legends Cars racing in the UK, the two championships for the 2023 season will bring the 5/8 scale pocket rockets, powered by 1250cc motorcycle engines, to an increasing number of race fans and armchair enthusiasts as the standing of the category reaches even greater heights into its 29th season.
Phil Cooper – Legends Cars Championship Owner:
“We’re delighted to be able to reveal our calendar for 2023, the September race meeting should be confirmed in due course, and obviously very excited to officially announce the plan to run as two distinct championships for the new season. With the three race meetings alongside the BTCC next year, it made absolute sense to us for those to be a standalone six-round Legends Championship.
“Now, we can also confirm what will be either a nine or 10 round Legends Cars Championship across five other events which will comprise some of the big race meetings our competitors have come to expect, the American Speedfest and the season finale with the Trucks. It’s great to be returning to race at Cadwell with BARC for the first two rounds and we’re excited to be racing with MSVR at Snetterton as well. All in all we feel we have a fantastic offering next year for drivers, teams and, of course, the race fans!”
